Sophie Le Tan: these words of Jean-Marc Reiser that the girl’s family does not accept

Jean-Marc Reiser was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Sophie Le Tan on Tuesday July 5, 2022. The victim’s family spoke after this decision.

On Tuesday July 5, 2022, the Bas-Rhin Assize Court sentenced Jean-Marc Reiser to life imprisonment with 22 years of security. The man had been appearing for a week in connection with the assassination of student Sophie Le Tan on September 7, 2018. Following the verdict of this painful trial, the cousin of the victim, Laurent Tran Van Mang spoke on RTL.

He confided: “We had seven very trying days, seven days with a lot of tension, pain that goes up because we talked about Sophie“. Re the apologies made by Jean-Marc Reiser, Laurent Tran Van Mang was adamant. “The family does not accept it” he said before continuing: “It is hard to forgive a person who has acted this way. It’s incomprehensible“.

The family of Sophie Le Tan evokes the freedom of Jean-Marc Reiser

Before the Sophie Le Tan affair, Jean-Marc Reiser already owned a heavy criminal record and had already been convicted of two rapes. The course of the repeat offender and the previous court decisions have not failed to question the family of the student killed and dismembered. “What was wrong for a person like Jean-Marc Reiser to be free? It wasn’t the question these days, but I won’t hide from you that we thought about it“explained the cousin of Sophie Le Tan.

For her part, the victim’s mother, who had collapsed on the first day of the trial, also denounced the inaction of justice in the face of the disturbing profile of the 61-year-old man. “We sincerely hope that Sophie’s case will serve as a general awareness of the case of the repeat offender, since if Sophie had not crossed paths with this repeat offender, she would still be alive. She would be by our side“ she estimated.
