On Instagram, Sophie Tapie announced this Wednesday, October 27, to take a break in her musical career to recover from the death of her father, Bernard Tapie.
She had just released a brand new album. In “1988”, Sophie Tapie wrote the song “The Phoenix”, a tribute to her father Bernard Tapie with double cancer of the stomach and esophagus. On October 3, while promoting this new record, the 78-year-old businessman succumbed to his illness. A few weeks after the death of her father, the young woman spoke on social networks to announce a radical decision.
While her plans are completely turned upside down, the 33-year-old singer has decided to take a career break. “As you can imagine, I am going through a complicated period in my life. That’s why I decided to put the promotion of my album on hold for a while”, she posted on Instagram. She announces that she wants to “recenter” and “Take time to get better”. “We had so many great projects, but they wouldn’t be done with sincerity if I had to do them today”, she confides.
“I will be eternally grateful to you”
To mourn, Sophie Tapie announces that her “Best therapy” is of “Take the pen and sit at the piano”. Before retiring, the singer wanted to address all of her fans who have supported her since the start of this difficult ordeal: “I wanted at the same time to thank you for being so present for us, some are not so lucky, I will be eternally grateful to you”, adding that she will come back “With new stories” and “Stronger than ever”.
