Last summer, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone triumphantly announced the renewal of their irreverent series for seven more seasons, a slew of films, and a new video game.
At the time, the document listing the infinity of South Park content that will punctuate the series until 2027 only mentioned the project very briefly, evoking “a 3D video game set in the universe of South Park”. But thanks to a recently published job offer, the next video game adaptation of the adventures of Stan & Co. is becoming clearer, and rather twice than once.
Who Said “Battle Royale”?
After The Stick of Truth and The Fracth of Destiny, two resolutely solo role-playing games, the next South Park game may well incorporate a multiplayer component. Indeed, the American studio Question Games is currently looking for a level designer for a new adaptation of the cartoon.
The ad – which is not lacking in humor – specifies the expected experience, and therefore delivers a weighty clue to its content.
Multiplayer experience: have delivered at least one multiplayer game as a senior level designer, or have equivalent experience.
South Park is hitting the road
The rest of the announcement allows us to glean some additional clues, and we thus discover that the next game released from the South Park license will benefit from Unreal Engine 4, a choice that should contrast with Ubisoft Massive’s Snowdrop engine, which had made it possible to faithfully transcribe the visual identity of the series in 2014 and 2017. Question Games’ latest game, The Black out Club, was already running thanks to the Epic engine.
Finally, whatever its form, the game should unsurprisingly be released on almost all platforms in circulation, since are explicitly listed PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series.
