Have you ever heard Pikachu say swear words? That’s exactly what happened on the official Pokémon TikTok.
In the minds of the public, Pikachu is this cute yellow mouse who softens young and old when she speaks with “Pika, pika”. For others, he is a detective with adult reactions, then played by actor Ryan Reynolds. But do you know the vulgar version of the most famous Pokémon? She appeared during a broadcast on the official TikTok, before quickly disappearing from the platform.
However, nothing ever really disappears on the Internet. Via a tweet posted on January 13 by journalist Josh Withey, who works at Yahoo UK, we can see the footage. Pikachu fidgets around Lucario (the blue Pokemon), singing super fast: “ If you’re fucking happy and you motherfucking know it, clap your motherfucking hands “. Which gives the following translation: If you’re f***** happy and you know it, clap your f***** hands. You really have to see it to believe it.

The song heard in the TikTok broadcast is, in fact, the cover of a hit intended for children: If You’re Happy And You Know It (be careful, it’s as unbearable as Baby Shark and you might have it in your head all day). The words ‘fucking’ and ‘motherfucking’ were added, no doubt in order to give more rhythm to the lyrics. This adaptation is signed Andy Arthur Smith, which has 2.6 million subscribers on TikTok.
How did this song, which is not at all suitable for a young audience, end up on TikTok’s official Pokémon account (3.7 million followers, many of them young people)? Note first that this is the Japanese account. Everything suggests that the community manager was unaware of the insults, since English is not his native language. It is also interesting to note that the words are pronounced at a hellish pace, which does not help understanding at all.
Obviously, there is nothing dramatic in this story. At best, it’s a bit of a silly blunder, which above all makes you smile. Seeing the innocent Pikachu let go of such profanity provides a stark contrast. Beware, though, this scene may shock those who think Pikachu is the purest, kindest, and cutest Pokémon in history. There are myths collapsing, and perhaps the mascot is going awry due to Ash’s future retirement.
