THE SSD to the PCI Express 5.0 standard are multiplying and after Corsair, Crucial or Gigabyte, it is MSI which formalizes its first product.

Last January, MSI took advantage of CES 2023 in Las Vegas to display its new SSDs in M.2 NVMe format. The M570 and M570 Pro were thus the first models of the brand to use PCIe Gen 5.

The M570 Pro has disappeared?

Today, the Taiwanese company goes a little further since it publishes the press release announcing the upcoming release of its first SSD in PCIe Gen 5. Surprise, the M570 Pro is no longer there.

Through its press release, but also the update of its official site, MSI effectively only mentions the case of the M570 which bears the full name of SPATIUM M570 PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 HS… To put it simply, we let’s keep M570, okay?

The SSD does not change from the model that was seen at CES 2023 and it still sports this aluminum heatsink which takes on a bronze hue and which justifies the “HS” at the end of its baptismal name.

Up to 10 GB/s sequential

On a more technical level, the M570 does not really surprise and MSI has partnered with Phison so that the E26 controller is at the heart of its SSD. It’s paired with 1TB or 2TB of 3D NAND, but the exact specs haven’t been revealed by MSI.

The data sheet all the same mentions the presence of 2 or 4 G of LPDDR4 cache to support the controller and underlines the write endurance of the two versions of the SSD, respectively 700 and 1,400 TB of data. For the rest, it is above all a question of improving performance.

At this level, it is impossible not to be a little disappointed since MSI does not mention the case of the M570 Pro, there is no question of finding the speeds that were in question at the time of the CES. The M570 delivers up to 10 GB/s sequential read and write as well as 1,400,000 random read IOPS and 1,500,000 random write IOPS.

Alas, if the press release published by MSI emphasizes a 5-year warranty, it does not specify either the exact release date of the product or its selling price. Patience.
