Spectacle in Linz – swarm of drones and fire breathers at Klangwolke

The fireworks are yesterday’s news, instead, drone choreographies, jet ski somersaults and fire-eaters delighted the masses on Saturday evening in the Donaupark at the Linzer Klangwolke presented by the “Krone”. The weather gods made a rain break for “Mother Gilgamesh” and the production was able to unfold.

Already in the afternoon, the first Klangwolke fans secured the best seats and stayed in camping chairs in cool temperatures – thousands followed their example in the evening and were rewarded with a particularly diverse Klangwolke. This year’s highlights were definitely the impressive drone choreography Night sky, the spectacular fire stunts and practiced jet ski acrobats, who even did somersaults on their water fountains. Director Pierre Audi broke down the ancient Gilgamesh epic into a few core statements, which actress Sunnyi Melles as the narrator reproduced using video projections on a gigantic cube. Man and his questionable relationship to nature played a major role in this. A post-apocalyptic world then opened up on one of three huge boats, where people could apparently only move around in protective suits Techno jumped back and forth. All in all, a performance show to marvel at.
