Spie: new contract with Viennese public transport

(CercleFinance.com) – Spie announced on Thursday that it had won a new contract for the modernization of lighting and the reduction of energy costs for Viennese public transport.

The French engineering group explains that Wiener Linien, the operator of Vienna’s public transport network, has commissioned its local subsidiary to replace nearly 15,000 lights with LED lights.

The framework contract, which began in September 2022 for a period of almost six years, should save nearly 3,500 MWh per year, i.e. the consumption of 1,200 households.

The scope of the agreement represents more than 80 kilometers of metro lines, 880 kilometers of bus lines and a 170 kilometer tram network, Spie said in a press release.

Nearly two million passengers use Vienna’s public transport daily.
