A historic moment. This Saturday, in front of nearly 2,300 guests and hundreds of millions of viewers around the world, the Archbishop of Canterbury placed the crown of Saint Edward on the head of Charles III. Now Queen Elizabeth’s son and his wife, Camilla, are King and Queen of the United Kingdom. After this very solemn ceremony, place for the popular celebration this Sunday.
Charles III invites the British to organize neighborhood meals and picnics in parks, with family, friends or neighbours, taking up the principle of an action of which Queen Camilla is the godmother: The Big Lunch. An action which must in particular promote social ties.
A concert with 20,000 people
For the coronation of Elizabeth II, there had been the Coronation Chicken, a chicken curry. For Charles III, it is a vegetarian recipe, a quiche with spinach and broad beans which is the official dish of the coronation. A dish that was not chosen at random since the newly crowned king loves eggs, cheese and because he is a fervent defender of the environment. The latter hopes to set an example of more responsible consumption, without meat.
In the Camden district, the British share the “Big Lunch”
This Sunday, the inhabitants of the Camden district in London decorated the small square with garlands and pennants in the colors of the United Kingdom, and picnicked for the “Big Lunch”. Europe 1 met these Britons celebrating the coronation of Charles III.
Finally, this Sunday evening, those who were lucky enough to obtain a place thanks in particular to a draw, will be able to attend an exceptional concert in Windsor, on stage. In front of 20,000 people, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, the opera singer or the actor Tom Cruise, will be present to do the show.
