Spittal as a pioneer – municipal council meeting will be broadcast live from 2023!

The municipality of Spittal has 17 million euros available for 2023. In the future, municipal council debates can be followed from home.

More than 17 million euros will be available for investments in 2023. This was announced at the municipal council meeting on Wednesday, which Mayor Gerhard Köfer described as “very relaxed”. The sum should mainly be used for water supply and sewerage (eight million euros), the purchase of a fire engine (1.5 million euros), road renovations (1.5 million euros), the renovation of the Goldeck Stadium, but also the renovation of the castle café flow. As the meeting on Wednesday revealed, the café is of particular concern to the city. “But first it has to be prepared and completely renovated so that a tenant can be found at all,” says the community leader. In addition to the café house, a room for events – for example for clubs – is to be created. A loan of EUR 350,000 was taken out for the project. Basic support for clubs is falling Another unanimously agreed point is basic support for clubs. This is to be reduced by 25 percent. The reason: the current inflation. But Köfer wants to calm things down: “This year, these 25 percent will be largely offset by the mayor’s available funds. This balance should again be possible for 2023.” What representatives of Spittal have achieved together this year “Through a financial retreat conducted with all parliamentary groups represented in the municipal council, the loss was reduced from 6.9 million euros to 1.8 million euros for 2023.” Spittal is broadcasting the municipal council meeting live! And there is something new for the next municipal council meeting, which will take place in 2023: The city is broadcasting the meeting live in all living rooms, as is also customary in the Carinthian state capital. “We will be the first Carinthian municipality to stream the session for all citizens from 2023. This will therefore also be more transparent,” promises the community leader.
