The best jams are made in old pots and this saying also works very well in the world of video games. Old licenses are never relinquishedreturning to the front of the stage with sequels, remakes and even simple remastered versions, which are selling like hot cakes.

Square-Enix understood this, and so did its investors. During a meeting with shareholders, one of them asked if the Japanese studio planned to develop other remasters, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster apparently sold very well. The investor even goes so far as to say that he would like to play XenogearsA RPG cult of the PlayStation, and the response of a manager at Square-Enix going in the right direction for the fans:

We will refrain from sharing information about new titles, but we are considering various ideas within the company and hope you will look forward to future announcements.

I won’t go into detail, but will say that we believe strengthening our internal development organization will be beneficial as the difficulty of developing major titles becomes extremely high, which also has timeline implications. of development.

We hope that this strengthening of our organization will not only promote the development of major titles, but also new licenses under the new management team.

As a reminder, Square-Enix just got out Final Fantasy XVI, an ultra-ambitious role-playing game with undoubtedly a colossal budget, but even if sales are excellent, the Japanese studio will not spit on a little easy money by updating its old franchises. Which license would you like to see again in the future?
