It’s almost time, “Star Trek: Discovery” Season 5 will start streaming on Paramount+ on April 4, 2024. The new season is also the final season. The new trailer is correspondingly emotionally charged. Amid all the action and excitement, there is also the fact that this will be the last adventure of the USS Discovery…
We took a closer look at the trailer and came across a few small details between the big scenes that tell us more about the plot of the upcoming episodes. The plot itself will be about a treasure hunt that Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the Discovery embark on.
Captain Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery investigate a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. There are other parties on the prowl too… dangerous enemies who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing.

In the first shot of the new trailer we see a cloud city or a starbase in a nebula. The blue tones paired with turquoise lights really look great. It is unclear whether this is a new base or a cloud city that Discovery only visits in one episode.
The cloud city was already brought back from “Star Trek” in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”. However, it was a planet where the buildings floated on clouds. In the “Discovery” trailer it looks more like a floating base in space.
This is underlined by the USS Discovery, which is at the top of the picture and is flying towards the base. It will therefore be more of a space nebula and less of clouds. Starfleet spaceships like Discovery are not actually built to penetrate planetary atmospheres.
