The showrunners have promised more “familiar faces” for “Star Trek: Prodigy” season 2. Who will return? Could this finally be William Shatner’s chance?
- It is very unlikely that William Shatner will return to “Star Trek”, but it is possible.
- For Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2, it has now been confirmed that a number of other Star Trek icons will return.
- It is not known which “familiar faces” we will see. Since Leonard Nimoy’s Spock has already returned, fans naturally hope for Shatner.
In Germany we are still waiting for the remaining seven episodes of “Star Trek: Prodigy”, but in the USA the finale has already aired and fans of the “Star Trek” universe are waiting for “Star Trek: Prodigy” season 2. To build anticipation stoke, showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman confirm that more popular characters will be returning!
The first season featured the return of Star Trek: Voyager icon Kate Mulgrew as Kathryn Janeway. Other favorites like Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher from “Star Trek: The Next Century” also returned.
As reported by the US magazine Screen Rant, Kevin Hageman announces: “In season 2 we will see many more familiar faces!”
In addition to “familiar faces,” Dan Hageman also promises “a new ship, but not the Protostar.” This is an aspect “that fans can speculate about”. Is it the Voyager spaceship? After all, it is Admiral Janeway who promises the crew of Misfits the new ship.
Star Trek: Who Could Return In ‘Prodigy’ Season 2?
The “familiar faces” are confirmed, but who could it be? Season 1 already featured Janeway and Crusher – and in the popular Season 1 Episode 6, Dal meets favorites like Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Odo (Rene Auberjonois), Scotty (James Doohan) and Uhura through the holo-deck (Nichelle Nichols).
These performances were accomplished through archival footage. For the animated series to have this opportunity means that basically any star could return, even those who have since sadly passed away. But 91-year-old William Shatner or George Takei would also be possible candidates.
“Star Trek: Prodigy” offers numerous possibilities through holo-decks or time travel. George Takei recently appeared in “Star Trek: Lower Decks”, so nothing stands in the way of another return from Hikaru Sulu. Whether Shatner will do the honors again after all these years remains to be seen.
Recently, the Captain Kirk actor hasn’t been too positive about the modern Star Trek series. But the fans would certainly be happy if he lent the voice of Captain Kirk again.
A start date for “Star Trek: Prodigy” Season 2 has not yet been set. However, we don’t have to suffer from a “Star Trek” shortage, plenty of supplies are provided. We list you the start dates of all “Star Trek” new releases!
