Unfortunately, the current success of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” makes us forget that the future of the “Star Trek” universe does not lie with the series, but with “Star Trek: Picard”. With the release of “Star Trek: Picard” season 3, the door to further spin-offs, films and series will probably be opened!
“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” takes place seven years before “Starship Enterprise” and with many characters such as Pike (Anson Mount), Spock (Ethan Peck), Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Dr. M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) and Sister Chapel (Jess Bush) already have a bright future. So there won’t be much potential for surprises, spin-offs and other stories.
The time when “Strange New Worlds” is set was already played out too much with “Star Trek: Discovery” seasons 1 to 2 and “Starship Enterprise”. The key to a crossover-rich future lies with “Star Trek: Picard”!
Numerous returnees from “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” have already been confirmed for the final season, and even if the series will mark the end of Jean-Luc Picard’s (Patrick Stewart) journey, the return of Worf (Michael Dorn), for example, could could also be the beginning of a more far-reaching comeback.
The fact that “Star Trek: Prodigy” and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” also play at a similar time helps the 24./25. Century, of course, in the process of gaining relevance, so that several stories are set there.
