  • Patrick Stewart is said to have gotten wind of a new film script back in November.
  • It is a “Star Trek” project that has not yet been officially confirmed by Paramount.
  • What the new film is about is unclear, Patrick Stewart only knows that he will be there as Picard.

In the final season of “Star Trek: Picard”, released in spring 2023, there was a reunion of Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew from “Star Trek: The Next Century”. For many fans of the “Star Trek” universe it was an absolute highlight and the series finale was therefore satisfactory, but the end of the series does not seem to be the end of the crew around Picard.

Stewart confirms there is a script for a new film. The star has long wanted to return with his “Star Trek” crew for a feature film and there finally seems to be movement on that front.

There is no official information from Paramount other than the new film from the Kelvin timeline, but Stewart reveals in the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, which was released on January 4, 2024, that he even got wind of a script in November 2023 , which he should have read by now.

Patrick Stewart confirms he has a Star Trek script in the works

I just heard last night that a script was being written, but specifically with this actor, Patrick, in mind to star in it. And I was told that I could expect to receive it in about a week. I’m very excited because it seems to be exactly the kind of project I want to experiment with. It’s good for 83 years…

As TrekMovie confirms, the interview was recorded in early November while Patrick Stewart was promoting his memoir Making It So. It is unclear whether he has actually received and read the script. In any case, there has been no official information about a new “Star Trek” film for a long time.

Last year, the streaming film “Star Trek: Section 31” was announced for Paramount+ with Michelle Yeoh, which was scheduled to begin filming in fall 2023. However, everything was delayed due to the actors’ strikes. The only thing that is certain now is that “Star Trek: Discovery” season 5 will start in April 2024 and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” season 3 is currently being filmed.

When and whether a sequel to “Star Trek: Picard” will be made in film form remains to be seen. It’s also difficult to say what it will be about. For example, Geordi (LeVar Burton) has a job at the Starfleet Museum and the others now also have positions within Starfleet where they no longer work together.

Picard himself has finally met his son, Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), and for the first time he has a family he can care for. Plus, his love story with Laris (Orla Brady) is just beginning.

We will receive new information by April 5th at the latest, which is First Contact Day and that is generally always a day on which Paramount likes to announce new information about new “Star Trek” releases.
