  • A highlight for Trekkies starts on November 4, 2022 on Super RTL: “Star Trek: Prodigy”.
  • The animated series, which is aimed at children, starts on Free TV on Disney+ and is not just for Trekkies and children.
  • The beautiful colorful pictures and the gripping music are the biggest highlight of this high-end sci-fi series.

The long wait is over and the new series from the “Star Trek” universe is finally starting in Germany. Of course we’re talking about “Star Trek: Prodigy”. On November 4, 2022, the first episode will be broadcast on Super RTL on Free TV, with further episodes to follow every day. Not only Trekkies should tune in!

What makes the series so special, especially compared to “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Star Trek: Picard”, is the target group. “Star Trek: Prodigy” is an animated series aimed at children. With this, the “Star Trek” universe dares for the first time in target group realms that no Trekkie has seen before.

It’s an experiment to introduce a younger generation of Trekkies to the subject and at the same time not alienate the long-established fans. An experiment that, in our opinion, was a success. The animations look great and are of a very high standard, “Prodigy” has a wonderfully idiosyncratic design, which guarantees the viewing experience!

The characters quickly grow on you. Of course, these are very childish. You have to put up with that, but that shouldn’t be a problem for interested people. For the young generation there are good messages, fun adventures and entertaining entertainment. For the older generation, there’s a nostalgic Trek feel and the return of Kate Mulgrew as Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager.

In addition, the soundtrack of “Star Trek: Prodigy” is among the best that a “Star Trek” series has ever received. It will be loud, gripping, sometimes quiet, but always magical! The main theme by Michael Giacchino is outstanding and the way composer Nami Melumad weaves the melodies into the series is magical!

As a result, the series develops a fantastic pull that sucks us into the action. Of course, there are also a few less gripping episodes and always a rather simple approach to the story. But here the episodic concept of classic “Star Trek” series is combined with an overarching plot.

“Discovery” and “Picard” have often been criticized for the fact that there are hardly any episodic episodes in which a completed story is told in one episode. In “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” there is always an adventure of the week. “Star Trek: Prodigy”, on the other hand, knows how to offer us both at the same time. Chapeau!

So if you’re still debating whether you should watch “Star Trek: Prodigy”, then give the series a chance and ideally watch the first two episodes. Then you should have a good picture of the series and you can decide whether the series is something for you.

If the childish approach isn’t really your thing, you can still wait for the Paramount+ streaming service to start in Germany. The launch is on December 8, 2022 and “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” celebrates its German premiere at the same time. We list you all “Star Trek” new releases!
