Star Wars has officially killed a smoking theory about The Acolyte

Fans thought they recognized a secondary character in The Acolyte a member of the Jedi order who appears in the Star Wars prelogy. The official account has just proven them wrong.

Theorizing is taking a risk. It’s taking a bet. Sometimes you can be right. But we can also get stuck in great widths. This is what has just happened regarding a track that fans of Star Wars had followed concerning the identity of a character. This, before the series The Acolyte is broadcast on Disney+.

We can say it now, since this hypothesis was inaccurate: the alien who appears from behind during a wide shot showing several members of the Jedi order is not Plo Koon, an alien who already appears in the films of the prelogy. The official account of Star Wars on X (formerly Twitter) has just revealed who it is, on June 19, 2024.

This alien, who belongs to the Kel Dor race, is therefore called Ithia Paan. We don’t yet know much about him (or her?), other than that he uses a green lightsaber and that he accompanies Jedi Master Sol during his investigations. The group of eight Jedi also includes Padawan Jecki Lon and Jedi Knight Yord Fandar.

Ithian Paan risks going there

Series The Acolyte has been broadcast exclusively on Disney+ since June 4, 2024. The streaming service is available from 5.99 euros per month, or from 29.99 euros per month with the Canal + Ciné Séries offer.

Considering how episode 4 of The Acolyte, we can fear that several members of the group will be killed by the mysterious Sith (whose identity is also the subject of various theories). We still don’t know who will be there, but the anonymous protagonists are the most exposed.

Indeed, they could only have a purely functional role which would serve to show the power of the antagonist. Of the group of eight, it is assumed that Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon could survive. Maybe Sol too, unless you want to activate a dramatic spring with a memorable death. Ithia Paan also appears on probation.

When this theory emerged in March, a certain circumspection encouraged us not to adhere to it blindly. Indeed, The Acolyte takes place a century before The Phantom Menace. Certainly, there are aliens whose longevity is immense — Yoda, at the time, was around 800 years old. And, obviously, Ki-Adi Mundi is in this case.

The Acolyte is a series that provokes a lot of reaction from the Star Wars fandom, including with notable virulence. In addition to the quality of the episodes, many express dismay at the scriptural biases which shake up the lore of Star Wars – on the conception of the Force, on the importance of the Chosen One (Anakin Skywalker) or on the notion of dyad.
