Screenwriter Tony Gilroy has explained how the second season of the Star Wars series “Andor” will link to the plot of the movie “Rogue One”, of which it is the official prequel.
Expected from September 21 on Disney+, the new Star Wars Andor series has been the subject of an early renewal for an additional season, responsible for concluding the narrative arc of the rebel Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna.
Fans of the license indeed remember that the latter was part of the rebel squadron led by Jyn Erso in the film Rogue One, responsible for recovering at the risk of their lives the plans of the Death Star, which will lead to destruction. from the space station at the end of Episode IV: A New Hope.
In an interview granted to our colleagues on the site The Playlistseries creator Tony Gilroy explained that the program is not responding “to what, but to why” of the character. Since the end of Andor is already known, the series will therefore retrace his journey from simple smuggler to pillar of the rebellion.
“Lots of people watch documentaries on the History channels. And suddenly, since we know how things end, the question becomes: ‘How did things happen?'” he thus commented, revealing that the final scene of season 2 will take place just five days before the plot of Rogue One.
The Star Wars Andor series can be discovered exclusively on the Disney+ platform from September 21.
