Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, a fan-made VR remaster project is underway

If the episodes of Vader Immortal or of Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge (the test can be found here) are no longer enough to quench your thirst for power and that the call of the force is as powerful as the smell of a still warm croissant, know thata fan of the iconic franchise has made it his mission to remaster the Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast episode in VR. As a reminder, this game released in 2002 put us in the shoes of Kyle Katarna mercenary Jedi in a game alternating the phases of FPS and of GST. On the page Twitter Gamethe developer Guido Mariano exposes several videos of gameplay of his work in progress, and it must be said that it makes you want to.

The first thing that jumps out at you is the visual aspect of the title. We are therefore entitled to a complete graphic overhaul with new models and textures, as well as particularly elaborate light or reflection effects. The game is therefore in line with the times and does not look like a simple port in VR classic. The interactions on the mechanisms (buttons, handles) or even the handling of the different blasters and the mythical lightsaber are not left out either, and are intended to live up to today’s standards. The latter, more realistic than ever, will promise a gameplay even more immersive since it will be possible to cut like butter some elements of the decoration serving as cover. And like all good Jedi self-respecting, we will have the right to use force on our enemies. The project is still in its infancy, evidenced by an AI clearly picking up and a first open level not textured for the moment. However, it is clear that these first videos are mouth watering and announce good things for the future. If you wish to support the project of this unconditional fan, you can go to his page Patreon.

If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, you can treat yourself to a Meta Quest 2 at the house of Bakerthe Fnac, Darty Where Amazon for €349.99.
