15 years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”, Rey (Daisy Ridley) has founded and established her new Jedi Order, but chaos reigns once again in the New Republic as the relevance of a new Jedi Order is questioned . That’s the premise of the upcoming film “Star Wars: New Jedi Order.”
Officially, “New Jedi Order” has not yet been confirmed as the title for the film. The film is about the New Jedi Order and as a time period the action area is referred to as the “New Jedi Order”, just as there are also the New Republic and the High Republic.
When does Star Wars: New Jedi Order start?
While the film has already been confirmed, confirmation of a release date is still pending. Disney has blocked several cinema releases in the coming years, but has not assigned which of the announced films will be released when.
The most likely release of “Star Wars: New Jedi Order” is this December 19, 2025. But it may also be that the film will not start until December 17th, 2027 or December 21st, 2029. Due to the strike, there has been no further information since the film was announced during the Star Wars Celebration 2023 in April.

Daisy Ridley has already been confirmed as Rey Skywalker for Star Wars: New Jedi Order. Due to the film’s placement in the “Star Wars” chronology, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron and John Boyega as Finn could of course also appear, but this has not been confirmed. Here we are still waiting for official announcements from Lucasfilm and Disney.

The film takes place in the “Star Wars” chronology 15 years after “The Rise of Skywalker” and therefore around 46 years after “The Return of the Jedi”. Rey Skywalker is in her mid-30s at this point.

The screenplay is by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”), who revised a previous draft by Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”) and Justin Britt-Gibson.
