Star Wars Outlaws clearly won’t be for everyone

When we think of Star Wars, we generally think of general audience content that is aimed at young and old alike. But obviously not this time for Star Wars Outlaws.

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment plan to launch Star Wars Outlaws, a new open-world action-adventure title, in 2024. Leaks suggest the game could release in the first half of the year, which is good news for the fans. At the same time, we can learn that the game would ultimately not be as general as that, contrary to what one might often think with a Star Wars project. Even if often, the games are entitled to a nice PEGI 16 as was the case with Jedi Survivor.

A surprising classification for Star Wars Outlaws?

The recent game rating in South Korea by the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) gave Star Wars Outlaws a rating of 19+, which is equivalent to an M (Mature) rating by the ESRB in the United States or PEGI 18 here in France. Age ratings are typically assigned to games shortly before launch, leading to an imminent release for Star Wars Outlaws.

Previous rumors, fueled in particular by renowned leaker Tom Henderson, suggested that the game could launch during the first half of 2024. If this information is true, official announcements from Ubisoft should not take long. The potentially PEGI 18 ranking with us is still a strong signal about the future content of the game. We must expect blood, dark themes and why not a little sensuality and nudity, as is sometimes the case case in RPGs. Particularly from CD Projekt (Cyberpunk 2077 in particular).

A beautiful project

For the record, Star Wars Outlaws is a third-person, single-player action-adventure game. The game is set in an open world and will include elements of stealth and open combat, vehicle combat, space combat, as well as branching dialogue. The game introduces a new protagonist, Kay Vess, who is a blaster-wielding non-Jedi rogue. SW Outlaws takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
