The series “Star Wars – The Bad Batch” runs under the general public’s radar and even Star Wars fans don’t pay much attention to it. In the last two seasons, many inconsistencies from the Star Wars cosmos were cleared up. The final third season could now tell an extremely tragic story, the outcome of which is already known.

The trailer for season 3 already provides fans with a lot of material for speculation. Among other things, a figure who was believed to be dead seems to be returning. But one storyline may have been missed by even the most attentive viewers: the fate of Captain Rex.

Although the series is mainly about the eponymous Bad Batch and their mission to protect the female clone Omega from the Empire, old acquaintances also appear from time to time. This includes Captain Rex, who served under Ahsoka Tano and the powerful Jedi Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars.

He plays a particularly important role because he has made it his mission to fight for justice for the clones. After the three-year Clone Wars, the Empire, led by the sinister Sith Lord Darth Sidious, no longer has any use for rapidly aging soldiers who are beginning to question orders. The fact that they end up in captivity is kept secret from the public.

Rex, who has always cared deeply for his brothers, can’t watch this. Together with Echo, who served him during the events of The Clone Wars, he saves the clones from their fate. Instead of retreating underground, he goes into battle openly for his mission.

For Rex, the war never ended and it could well be that in “The Bad Batch” Season 3, Rex will gather an army of clones to overthrow the Empire. But the outcome will be devastating, as we already know. Because the clones will disappear from the scene and not because they will get a well-deserved retirement.

Rex from “Star Wars – Rebels” also speaks for this tragic outcome. The series takes place shortly before “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and the aged Rex is a broken man who wants to stay as far away from the Empire and the Rebellion as possible. A stark contrast to the former fighter.

A strong blow of fate will befall Rex in season 3 of “The Bad Batch”. You’ll find out exactly what that will be on Disney+ from February 21st.
