  • Warning: Spoilers for Episode 5 of “The Book of Boba Fett” to come.
  • Returnee Mando flies down Beggar’s Canyon in the latest installment of the “Star Wars” series.
  • The pod race in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” took place here.
  • Also, does the N1 Starfighter have a seat for Grogu?

The latest, 5th episode of “The Book of Boba Fett” is out. Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) will be suspended as the main character for one episode – and The Mandalorian’s Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) will take his place on Disney+. In the second season of “The Mandalorian”, however, villain Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) had completely destroyed Mando’s spaceship, the Razor Crest.

That’s why, in the latest episode of “The Book of Boba Fett,” the Mandalorian first flies in a commercial spacecraft. On this flight, he even “checks in” his valuable Darksaber at short notice and hands it over. Then it’s enough for Mando: Arriving on Tatooine, he pays a visit to the mechanic Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris), also known from the “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian”, because he wants a new ship.

And already at this point, memories of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” from 1999 or the entire prequel trilogy are awakened.

“Mando” will be traveling in this spaceship in the future

“Mando’s” new spaceship, which is still ready for the scrap heap, is an N1 Starfighter that the Queen of Naboo personally commissioned. Here is a corresponding tweet with 3 pictures that explain the connections:

However, the N1 Starfighter is NOT Anakin Skywalker’s podracer from “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”, as some “Star Wars” fans thought at first. But then there is a more than clear connection to the 1st prequel part.

Mechanic Peli Motto immediately encourages “Mando” to do a test flight without prior diagnosis. And on this, the Mandalorian flies the Podracer route from “The Phantom Menace”. In the so-called Beggar’s Canyon (or the Beggar’s Canyon) on Tatooine, the Boonta Eve Classic pod race takes place in the first prequel part, which Anakin wins. Even some visual references to Anakin’s flight were incorporated into episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett by director Bryce Dallas Howard, as you can see from the following tweet:

There’s only one thing left to say about the as-yet-unnamed new “Mando” ship: the small glass dome behind the pilot is extremely grogu-friendly. A Twitter user then clarified this fact with a photo montage that was as funny as it was illuminating:
