The fourth episode of “Ahsoka” features a surprise appearance. After losing a battle against Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) wakes up in a sphere and meets a person who is just as surprised by the reunion as she is: Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen).

Hayden Christensen is back again after his comeback in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” in the same outfit as in “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”. But what significance does his return have and where does he meet Ahsoka?

Star Wars: Anakin returns because Ahsoka needs him more than ever!

Ahsoka was once Anakin Skywalker’s padawan. We can witness their joint missions in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. But Anakin was never able to complete Ahsoka’s training. Before the end of the Clone Wars, Ahsoka left the Order because she was accused of being a traitor.

Anakin stood by her side throughout the trial, but the Jedi Order cast her out. After her innocence was proven, she left the Order voluntarily: how could she believe in herself when the Jedi Council doesn’t. This was not only a bitter blow for Ahsoka, but Anakin also lost a lot of trust in the Jedi.

Shortly before the end of the Clone Wars, they see each other again before the Jedi Order falls and Anakin becomes Darth Vader. For Ahsoka, not only is her training unfinished, she is also plagued by “what if” thoughts. What if she hadn’t left the Order, if she hadn’t left Anakin?

The fact that Anakin appears again in episode 4 of “Ahsoka” has to do with her own career as a master. She wants to stop Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) too doggedly and risk losing Ezra (Eman Esfandi) forever – and with it Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) in a certain way.

It was similar to Anakin, who tried so hard to save Padmé (Natalie Portman) from “certain” death that he sacrificed so many other things. In a sense, it is Anakin’s job to finally complete Ahsoka’s training and give her this one last mission.

Star Wars: Where are Anakin and Ahsoka and why is Anakin not a Force ghost?

The place where Ahsoka meets Anakin looks like the World between worlds from “Star Wars Rebels”. This is a sphere of power in which one can travel through time and space. In addition, the world between worlds also seems to be the place where the deceased Jedi live, an intermediate world.

The fact that Anakin is not a Force ghost, even though he is of course dead, can be explained as follows: Force ghosts are manifestations of dead people who are one with the Force. In a sense, they are likenesses that cannot take on physical form. In the world between worlds they are much closer to power and can actually manifest themselves.

In the Star Wars Rebels finale, Ezra was in the world between worlds and saved Ahsoka. So you don’t necessarily have to be dead to walk in the world between worlds. This explains why Ahsoka is there and can talk to Anakin.

There were already all sorts of fan theories in advance about the role that the world between worlds will play. After all, the design of the series’ lettering is based on the world between worlds. Since there are many portals through which you can travel or at least look through space and time, the possibilities are endless.

It’s very likely that Anakin and Ahsoka will go on a little nostalgia trip and we’ll see live-action “The Clone Wars” scenes in which the two reflect on past adventures. It may also be that they travel into the future.

There were once theories that Ahsoka would travel through the portals in the Disney+ series to try to save Anakin from the Dark Side. It is unlikely that she will attempt this while Anakin is with her. He will certainly talk her out of it and make it clear that it wouldn’t change the outcome. He was destined to become Darth Vader.

The next episode will appear on September 13, 2023 in the Disney+ news program. Dave Filoni, who is also the series creator, will direct. So we can certainly look forward to some highlights. We list all new “Star Wars” releases for you!
