Starfield: Bethesda pulls out all the stops in a 45-minute live broadcast

Among the highlights of this presentation, the diversity of the worlds and therefore of the landscapes that Starfield unfolds in front of the player eager for exploration and discovery. Pieces of planets (more than a thousand) that can be explored in the first or third person to collect resources, accomplish specific objectives or just make all kinds of discoveries. Todd Howard then guides us through the game’s menus, the sobriety of which contrasts with the level of detail of each object or equipment picked up. Once they wish to move on, the player can teleport back to their ship or repeat the journey on foot. A ship that also serves as headquarters for the player and his crew, always with this little retro and analog side that inspired the artistic direction of the game, right down to the star map that allows you to select your next destination.

Bethesda gave it all

The rest of the program includes a visit to New Atlantis, the largest city ever designed in a Bethesda Game Studios game, whether in size, population or number of quests. It is also in this city that the player will make his debut as a new recruit of Constellation, this organization which is still looking for answers to the biggest questions of the galaxy. The rest of this long presentation then extends to the character creation tool, the skill system, ships, companions, space piloting, exploration and combat, without forgetting to devote a little time to the gear in the colors of the game (controller and helmet). As a direct consequence of the scale that the game suggests, the 30 frames per second will be imposed on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. And this time, it is indeed a choice and not a temporary solution in waiting for a patch.

For those who don’t plan to simply use the Game Pass subscription, Starfield will be available in standard edition but also in Constellation and Premium editions which will notably include the future narrative extension Shattered Space as well as access to the game five days ahead of time. The Constellation Edition even includes a functional watch similar to the one the player uses in the game.
