The legendary Todd Howard was interviewed by Kinda Funny Games to talk about the upcoming event game from Bethesda and Microsoft.

What to learn more about this famous Starfield expected on September 6 on PC and Xbox Series X|S. And there seems to be as much good news as bad.

Engage in space exploration, they said…

Let’s start with the unfortunate elements to remember from this interview with Todd Howard. Unfortunately, it could be that the exploration of planets does not always sell dreams, despite a long presentation of convincing gameplay in this sense following the Xbox Games Showcase.

Among the potentially prohibitive points, we can note the absence of ground vehicles (and fishing, know it) at the launch of the game. Todd Howard justified this by indicating that Bethesda games have always been created with a walk in pleasant foot as a watchword. To speed up his travels in the vast galaxy of Starfieldit will therefore be necessary at the beginning to be satisfied with the jetpack (probably while waiting for mods).

A dark spot on the board, while space-centric games like Mass Effect first of the name on Xbox 360 proposed at the time to move on the surface of a planet in a vehicle. What’s more, Bethesda games oblivion And Skyrim did have faster means of land travel, in the simple form of mounts. Another element to remember which could put off some (but which nevertheless wants to be “realistic”): among the thousands of planets to explore, only 10% of them would shelter life.

The galaxy half full?

Now onto the happier news when it comes to this highly anticipated game. Despite the fact that exploring the planets can be a bit monotonous, it will certainly not be without interest. Scanning various elements of each planet will greatly enrich yourself, and the extraction of resources will prove beneficial to take advantage of a crafting system that is expected to be very advanced.

As such, Todd Howard strongly insisted that the construction of his ship and outposts will also be particularly sharp. All madness should therefore be allowed for lovers of this kind of mechanics.

Generally speaking, the spokesperson for Bethesda wanted to be reassuring by saying that Starfield intends to be the most ambitious title from the studio and providing the best gaming sensations. We are ready to give it the benefit of the doubt, even if the man is known for his hyperbolic flights. Verdict at launch on September 6 on PC (if you have the required configuration) and Xbox Series X|S (but at 30 frames per second…).
