NAfter a hard struggle in the traffic light coalition, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has developed its interdepartmental future strategy “Research and Innovation”, which is to be decided in the cabinet on Wednesday next week and is available to the FAZ.
Above all, the green managed departments had to be won over to new technologies such as plant breeding. “Openness to technology must be the principle of our policy, and that’s why it’s important that we anchor it in law,” says Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger (FDP) of the FAZ
With the future strategy for research and innovation, the federal government is creating the basis for pooling resources and setting priorities in the face of the need to save. “We have to defend technology leadership, especially in key technologies, and also regain it. To do this, we will promote innovation and the transfer from research to application. And we have to be open to technology in order to accelerate progress and not slow it down,” says the minister.
