Start of a budget tour of France by the National Assembly rapporteur on Thursday

Jean-René Cazeneuve, the general budget rapporteur, begins a “Budget Tour de France” on Thursday, he announced on Wednesday, an unprecedented series of trips to the country to discuss public finances with citizens.

Mr. Cazeneuve, Renaissance deputy for Gers, accompanied by finance commissioners from the presidential majority, will make seven trips between Thursday, Ambroise (Indre-et-Loire), and April 25, in Savoie, the meeting of the French, each time with a public meeting and various visits (companies, schools, neighborhoods, etc.).

These trips aim to highlight the applications of the budget adopted in the fall in the daily lives of the French, he explains in a press release: household aid, energy renovation, agriculture, support for local authorities, all subjects on which we have worked as part of the finance bill for 2024 and which have concrete repercussions in everyday life.

Parliamentarians hope to have valuable feedback from the field with these discussions on everyday issues. According to Mr. Cazeneuve, this should enable us to enrich our work, particularly in the context of the next budget on which we are already starting to work.

The general rapporteur explained to AFP that he wanted, with this beautiful democratic exercise, to also explain how a budget is drawn up, noting a large gap between the idea that citizens have of the deputy’s work and the reality .
