Start of construction 2024 – New location for high-tech at the small world

The plans for the Cyber City on the “Rohrer-Gründe” in Klagenfurt opposite Minimundus are progressing. The first reallocations are already planned for May.

A museum for a kuk research ship was once planned, then beach volleyball fans camped there: the area opposite Minimundus has an eventful history behind it. A new high-tech location is now being planned on the “Rohrer grounds”. The Minimundus is not only a central transport hub, but also an important data hub. This is unique in Europe,” emphasizes Deputy Mayor Philipp Liesnig (SP). “We will create a suitable infrastructure here. Among other things, a cooling center is planned that can efficiently cool high-tech devices – including the university and Lakeside Park.” “The Cyber-City Klagenfurt concept is also based on the successful Lakeside Park, with which there is a management contract” , explains City Councilor Max Habenicht (VP). “But the project is not intended as a competitor, but as an addition to Klagenfurt as a high-tech city.” The Stadtwerke Klagenfurt also have plans for the area – a new data center is to be built on 1000 square meters, which can also be used by the new companies. The concept should be ready by May. If everything goes according to plan, construction will start in 2024.
