Unveiled last year at IFA in Berlin, then at CES 2023, the very first 45-inch curved LG OLED monitor (WQHD in 21:9 format) is now available for pre-order. This is an opportunity for us to take a closer look at what the manufacturer offers with its new UltraGear monitors.

After the UltraGear 27GR95QE already mentioned in our columns and for the moment only available for pre-order in the United States, LG draws its impressive UltraGear 45GR95QE whose pre-orders start today.

The first 240 Hz OLED screen on the market

The release of a new game screen generally goes under the radar, as the references follow one another and resemble each other over the months. As with the LG OLED Flex or the Corsair Xeneon Flex OLED, the official launch of the LG UltraGear 45GR95QE monitor still marks a small event in the world of gaming displays.

The first OLED monitor with a refresh rate of 240Hz, the 45GR95QE is innovative in more ways than one. LG has indeed equipped this screen with a panel with a radius of curvature of 800R. It is also the first screen of its kind to offer such significant curvature. On the other hand, we expect a gaming experience without common measure, given the characteristics and the technical sheet of the screen. First of all, we think of comfort in use, since the OLED panel is here equipped with a matte AGLR (Anti-glare & Low Reflection) coating which promises first-class visual comfort compared to other OLED panels. on televisions or monitors.

Technical specifications that take your breath away

LG talks about the potential of its screen in terms of display. Being an OLED panel, the dynamism of the image is necessarily quite different compared to a conventional LCD monitor. The manufacturer thus announces a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, but also 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and an exceptional response time which is less than 0.03 ms GTG. As a reminder, the 27GR95QE has similar characteristics, but is not a curved screen.

Finally, this 45-inch juggernaut offers a WQHD definition (3,440 x 1,440 pixels), which therefore corresponds to a 21:9 image format. It comes with support for HDR10 signals, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 DisplayPort 1.4, 3 USB 3.0 ports and a 4-pole headphone output compatible with DTS Headphone:X as well as a remote control. However, it does not have a loudspeaker.

Pre-orders are open since February 22 and will end on March 7. The monitor is offered at 1,699 euros and includes a Thrustmaster T248 steering wheel (PC/Xbox).
