The Swiss national sport connects generations and brings people together who might otherwise have nothing to do with each other. When it comes to Jassen, neither political orientation, age nor origin play a role. What everyone at the table has in common, however, is the joy of the game and – even if not everyone would admit it – the will to win.
Stand out from your friends

Both the qualifying tournaments and the semifinals of the 5th Swiss Slider Championship will be held online. All players who have scored 1,150 points or more in a qualifying tournament are automatically placed in the semi-finals. The 64 best semi-finalists and the defending champion will play for the Jass crown at the final tournament in Theater Casino Zug on November 20th.

Last year, the Jass-Krone went to Zurich to see Roger Hafner (45), owner of the Hafenkneipe music bar. Former Blick sports director Felix Bingesser is particularly pleased that a pub won the race: “For me, Jassen belongs in a pub! He’s a great guy, very personable, the right guy won. “
Roger Hafner learned to use the slide valve when he was around ten years old. «My grandfather, my father and my uncle always wanted to joke during the Christmas season, but they couldn’t find a fourth person. Nobody wanted to join the team with my grandfather because he was dogged, ”says Roger. “You couldn’t make mistakes, never think twice.” And who had to bite the bullet back then? Right. “It was a curse then, now a blessing. And who knows whether I would have won today without him », says the reigning Jass king of Switzerland, who will defend his title this year with a wildcard.
Celebrities at the table
On November 20, comedians Stefan Büsser (36) and Monika Fasnacht (57), the grande dame of the Jass cards, will trump as celebrity jassers. The big final of the 5th Swiss Slider Championship will be moderated by Sara Bachmann (42) from Lucerne. She gives the Queen of Hearts at Theater Casino Zug when Switzerland chooses its king or queen among the finalists.
