State exhibition 2028 – water, land and life as a theme for the state exhibition

In doing so, they want to reposition themselves in public perception and further strengthen their previous advantages. What the applicants imagined and which topics would be possible.

Unfortunately, many projects in the Waldviertel are operated in narrow lanes. However, ten communities along the narrow-gauge railway in the Gmünd and Zwettl districts are now working together and will submit their application for the Lower Austrian State Exhibition 2028 in April. According to Christian Laister, mayor of Groß Gerungs, water, land and life are the suggestions for the thematic cornerstones of the show: “This would allow for a wide range of significant content – from the climate to life on land or even our cultivated pond landscape. And with it also fish farming or cuisine.” The development up to today would then also highlight a historical aspect. Further strengthening the advantages The communities hope that the state show will finally make their strengths more widely recognized. Many projects are intended to reinforce the advantages of the region and thus lead to a repositioning in the public eye.European locationIn the “heart of Europe” and with direct public connections to Prague and Budweis, Gmünd is to be the main location. The historic palm house, which was built in the castle park in the 19th century, would serve as a jewelry box. “It is an architectural jewel and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the Waldviertel,” says city manager Helga Rosenmayer, emphasizing that the renovation and expansion of the building is a long-held wish of the population. Ten communities on the narrow-gauge railway But also Groß Gerungs as the location of the largest heart Circulation center in Austria as well as the Schrammel town of Litschau with its rich cultural landscape including events are included in the concept and are intended to complete the main location in Gmünd. The communities of Bad Großpertholz, Brand-Nagelberg, Großdietmanns, Langschlag, St. Martin, Unserfrau-Altweitra and Weitra, which are located on the narrow-gauge railway line, should then be able to develop and implement many more projects, which should play an important role in the overall concept.
