Men with covered faces entered the set of TC Television in the port city of Guayaquil and shouted that they had bombs. Gunshot-like noises could be heard in the background.

The station broadcast live for at least 15 minutes before the signal was switched off. While the broadcast was running, the men could be seen on camera while some employees lay on the floor and someone shouted “Don’t shoot!” shouted.

The Ecuadorian police announced on X that all the gunmen who stormed the television station have now been arrested.

The President of Ecuador declared a state of emergency on Monday morning due to the escape of the powerful gang leader.
