Steam: 20 years and a big old gift

In 2023, computer gaming platforms are legion, and physical versions have almost disappeared. But, 20 years ago, the market was not at all the same, Valve had not only made people happy by launching Steamwhich served as DRM for its games and made updates easier.

Eh yes, Steam was launched on September 12, 2003and users arrived in droves the following year to play Counter-Strike: Condition Zero And especially Half-Life 2. To celebrate this anniversary which changed the face of the computer video game market, Valve has realised a special page to look back on 20 years of Steamputting in the context of the time (MySpace was just created, In Da Club of 50 Cents was a hit, Facebook did not exist… damn old) and retracing the history of the most popular gaming platform on PC, until 2023 with the beta of Counter-Strike 2 and the Steam Deck which continues to attract nomadic players.

As a gift, Valve offer animated stickers, profile backgrounds and an animated avatar in there Points shop. The future of Steam looks good for the moment, and you can expand your library with games on sale on Gamesplanet.
