There is a lot of movement again in the Steam top sellers. Valve’s Steam Deck is still unchallenged at the top of the charts, but the new horror game The Quarry was able to grab one of the lower podium places – even though it has received harsh criticism from some players.

The Quarry is going steep on Steam

Barely launched and already a top seller on Steam: The Quarry, the new horror game from the developer studio Supermassive Games, was released on June 10, 2022. The name should sound familiar to genre fans. The team has also developed The Dark Pictures Anthology and Until Dawn in the past. The latter in particular was a hit with many PlayStation players at the time.

The Quarry is the next teen horror slasher to play along with – and it seems to be garnering a lot of interest not only on console but also on PC. The Quarry currently ranks third in the Steam Best Sellers and only has to admit defeat to the Valve Index VR kit and the Steam Deck (source: Steam). But since these are expensive hardware products – and Steam’s bestseller list is based on sales and not units sold – that’s not surprising.

The best way to find out whether The Quarry is something for you is to take a look at the official trailer:

The PC version still seems to have problems

The majority of Steam players seem to be quite taken with The Quarry. Currently, 75 percent of all buyers rate the new horror shocker positively. But the PC version is still a bit error-prone at the moment. Fans report about Crashing after cutscenes. In addition, some players are annoyed that there is no online co-op mode.

However, the critics should have looked twice at the Steam product page before buying – because this function is not mentioned anywhere. At the moment, The Quarry only supports offline split-screen co-op. It remains questionable whether an online version will also be submitted at a later date.
