  • Officially, Destiny 2 is not playable on Valve’s Steam Deck.
  • Bungie gives the incompatibility with Steam OS and Proton as a reason.
  • If you work around this incompatibility, you risk being banned.

Steam Deck is out and tests for compatible games are still ongoing. However, some games cannot be played on the handheld, including Destiny 2.

Officially, you can’t play Destiny 2 on Steam decks because if you try, the game won’t load and after a short wait you’ll end up back in your game library.

Bungie explains on its own website that the shooter is only designed for Windows devices and is therefore incompatible with SteamOS and Proton.

If you circumvent this incompatibility in any way, you are threatened with a game ban for Destiny 2. However, it is unclear why Bungie is taking such harsh measures.
