Steam kicks off 2022 with an all-time high and the results of its awards

Thanks in particular to CS: GO and Dota 2, Steam took a month to surpass its previous record … and could already beat it again.

Steam is off to a great start in 2022. The gaming platform remains on top of online stores and Valve can rub their hands. After New Years Eve, gamers came in droves to test their new games and according to the SteamDB database, a new all-time high has been set: over 27.9 million users played simultaneously on Steam a few days ago (a record that could be broken quickly, at the time of writing we are 20,000 people from this peak). This is much better than the previous record, already established last November, with 27.3 million.

Unsurprisingly, the architects of this huge peak are the traditional CS: GO and Dota 2. As often also, we found at the top of the charts the PUBG, Apex Legends and other GTA 5. Games which were very profitable for Steam this year. .

At the same time, the publisher unveiled the results of its Steam Awards 2021. After several days of votes, PC players voted Resident Evil Village ahead of Valheim, Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 5 or New World. Find the rest of the winners in this list:
