Steam reveals its ranking of games that grossed the most money in 2021

Like every year, Steam does its own review and lists the games that have had the most success in the last few months. We are therefore entitled to the usual ranking of the games that were the most profitable in 2021, i.e. the 100 games with the best gross sales. And among the games present, there are some surprises.

The pillars of Steam still very profitable

Steam classifies the various games in this ranking into several categories, namely Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze, Platinum being reserved for those who have achieved the highest turnover. In this category, we therefore find the following games:

  • PUBG
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • DOTA 2
  • Apex Legends
  • Dead by daylight
  • Battlefield 2042
  • Naraka bladepoint
  • Counter-Strike Global Offensive
  • GTA V
  • New World
  • Destiny 2
  • Valheim

Unsurprisingly, we find here mainly multiplayer games, whose economic model helps to make profits over time. Note the good performance of New World, the only game of 2021 with Battlefield 2042 (despite its dire user ratings) and Valheim, which is still in early access.

Just below these mastodons, we salute the performance of Forza Horizon 5, yet present in the Game Pass. Final Fantasy XIV is also more popular than ever, while It Takes Two slips between all these beautiful people, just to show that he did not steal his title of GOTY.

In Silver, the multiplayer of Halo Infinite is also doing very well despite its late release, and we see that despite the controversies, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to generate a lot of money at CD Projekt Red.

You can see the full ranking on the Steam page dedicated to this purpose.
