Stellantis-Production at the Melfi factory interrupted by a strike – unions – 08/02/2022 at 18:00

ROME, Aug 2 (Reuters) – Production at Stellantis’ STLA.MI plant in Melfi, southern Italy, was halted on Tuesday due to a strike by the automaker’s subcontractors responsible for logistics operations, the unions said in a joint statement.

The workers went on strike after Stellantis’ decision to cut a third of the work given to these subcontractors, the unions said.

The Melfi plant, which employs more than 7,000 workers, manufactures the Jeep Compass and Renegade models.

Stellantis could not immediately be reached for comment.
