PARIS, June 24 (Reuters) – The halt in production at two Stellantis factories in France is linked to problems with the supply of components from German supplier Continental, two sources close to the carmaker told Reuters.
The Franco-Italian-American group announced on Wednesday the shutdown of its Rennes site (Ille-et-Vilaine) and the extension of the shutdown of its Sochaux site (Doubs), due to a shortage. of semiconductors.
In Rennes, the supply problem concerns the NAC device (Connected navigation and car radio) of the Citroën C5 Aircross SUV supplied by Continental, said one of the sources, confirming information from the Tribune.
According to another source close to Stellantis, the suspension of activity in Sochaux is attributable to difficulties in delivering touch screens, also supplied by the German equipment manufacturer and intended this time for the Peugeot 3008 SUV.
The sources were unable to specify where in the supply chain the problem was.
A spokeswoman for the carmaker born from the merger between PSA and FCA declined to comment on specific suppliers and repeated that the current production stoppages at these two French sites were linked to a shortage of semiconductors.
