Stellar Blade will not give in to censorship and will pull out all the stops

PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade censored at launch in certain countries around the world? No, the game announces a very violent and bloody adventure which does not intend to hold back.

Recharge your DualSense controller, Stellar Blade is arriving this Friday, April 26, 2024 exclusively on PS5. A highly anticipated beat’em all which, so far, has made a strong impression, notably thanks to the free demo available on the PlayStation Store. This trial version showed that the fights will be violent, with jets of hemoglobin, and the Shift Up studio confirms that this will indeed be the case upon release.

No censorship for Stellar Blade on PS5

Last March, Stellar Blade’s communication turned against the game. An outfit that increases the difficulty of the title was debated. With this flesh-colored “Skin Suit”, we have the impression that Eve, the heroine of the software, is naked, which displeased part of the community. In good or bad taste, this outfit in any case allows the most demanding players to put themselves at a disadvantage. In fact, there will no longer be the possibility of activating the character’s shield which, as a result, will be more vulnerable to attacks.

If you’ve played the Stellar Blade demo, you may have noticed that the developers have placed emphasis on blood, even dismemberment. A direction which from time to time harms games in certain countries around the world. Will this new PS5 in turn be subject to censorship? No. According to Korean studio Shift Up, no matter where you buy the game, it will be the uncensored version. “Stellar Blade offers the same uncensored version in every country around the world, including Japan” said the title’s official X account. Hemoglobin and cut arms are yours (among other things)! If Shift Up mentions it, it is because there have already been precedents for censorship, notably at PlayStation. But here, it’s open bar.

Stellar Blade will have an average lifespan for this type of production, and will take you around 25 hours in a straight line. More if you aim for 100% by completing all the requested tasks. An essential future in the game library? The legendary Yoko Taro believes that Stellar Blade is better than NieR Automata. Ah! Verdict in a few days.
