“Still the best Marvel series”, “Can’t wait for the sequel”: season 2 of Loki makes a triumphant return with an episode 1 acclaimed by fans

Highly anticipated by Marvel fans, season 2 of Loki has begun its broadcast on Disney+. What did subscribers think of the first episode? Warning, spoilers.

Warning, spoilers. It is recommended to have seen the first episode of season 2 of the Loki series before continuing reading this article.

The return of the God of Mischief has come! The Loki series, centered on the character played by Tom Hiddleston, returns for an even crazier second season on Disney+. His solo adventures lead him to collaborate with the TVA (Tribunal of Anachronistic Variations), which manages inconsistencies in the Multiverse and flaws in the Eternal Temporal Flow.

Because it is the Loki of 2012 that we find, the one who escaped death in New York when the Avengers return to the past to recover Infinity Stones in order to challenge Thanos in Endgame. But his existence turns the entire Multiverse upside down since he becomes a cosmic anomaly to be erased urgently.

He must then collaborate with agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) but also with Sylvie, or Lady Loki (Sophia Di Martino), his female Variant, to understand how the TVA works and what it hides. Everything is turned upside down when Sylvie kills the creator of the TVA, “He Who Remains”, played by Jonathan Majors.

The latter is none other than a variant of Kang the Conqueror, the villain of the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the great antagonist of the next phase of the MCU. Loki understands that the TVA was controlled by this being with multiple variants and that the people who work there are his victims, variants whose memories he often erases.

A season 2 that gets off to a flying start

Season 2 will immerse Loki in new multiversal adventures, from the first episode, available on Disney+. Poor Loki suffers from temporal wanderings and is transported from one timeline to another – between past, present and future – without him having any control, which prevents him from progressing correctly in his quest for balance in the Multiverse.

But this allows him to discover the link between “He Who Remains” and judge Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who has vanished. Loki will be helped by Mobius and OB (Ke Huy Quan), a TVA technician, to correct these temporal shifts.

But they will have to use a Temporal Aura Extractor so that Loki is pruned and excluded from the Eternal Temporal Flow and can return to the present. The task is complex and could kill them all because they have to deal with the Time Center, which is overloaded because of the new branches in the Time Flow.

Which gives rise to an impressive and breathtaking sequence which ends successfully and a moving reunion between Loki and Mobius. And yet, it seems that an external force is at the origin of the resolution of the problem since Loki had the time to go into the future and see Sylvie again but also to be called by the ringing of a strange telephone .

This new information and questions will surely find answers in the next episodes but they have the merit of bringing new mysteries into a knot that is already very complicated to untangle.

The fans also seem quite confused by the events but are also delighted and impressed by this first episode of season 2 of Loki, as evidenced by their first opinions on X (ex-Twitter).

Translation: “My brain is trying to understand everything that is happening in Loki.”

And be careful! The first episode of Loki season 2 contains a pretty fun post-credits scene bringing Sylvie to a famous fast food restaurant, so don’t miss it.
