Stock market: Europe opens cautiously higher before PMIs

PARIS (Reuters) – The main European stock markets are moving slightly higher at the start of the session on Tuesday, investors digesting a burst of company results before the publication of the PMI indices.

In Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.19% to 6,863.48 points around 07:14 GMT. In Frankfurt, the Dax advanced by 0.09% while in London, the FTSE 100 lost 0.12%.

The EuroStoxx 50 index is up 0.16%, the FTSEurofirst 300 is up 0.03% and the Stoxx 600 is up 0.15%.

In terms of values, Hermès gained 2.27%, at the top of the CAC 40, after a solid third quarter, which benefits LVMH (+1.2%) and to a lesser extent Kering (+0.4%), which will publish its results after closing.

Orange drops 1% after its results while Michelin loses 1.5% before its expected publication after the close.

In the rest of Europe, Barclays (-6.7%) suffers after its quarterly publication, which weighs on the Stoxx banks index (-0.61%).

Conversely, basic resources (+2%) and real estate (+1.3%) stand out.
