Stock market professional Markus Koch in the podcast “So techt Germany”: “Interviews with holograms are coming soon”

Markus Koch is the German face of Wall Street. In the meantime, the ntv stock market expert and entrepreneur feels more at home in his own streaming studio. With new technology he wants to take stock market reporting to the next level.

Five years ago, Markus Koch built the first live streaming studio on Wall Street. With success: the ntv stock market expert now has more than 300,000 followers on the Internet. In his new studio he wants to offer them even more. He basically beams his interlocutors to New York. “With the hologram, we are actually taking the next step in terms of communication,” reports Koch. But he doesn’t do this to be particularly cool. “People perceive another person in a face-to-face relationship quite differently than when they are connected to video.” Because for Koch, the next level of digital communication is personal communication. To do this, you have to appear virtually in the room as an image of yourself.

Dare to do something new and not stand still is important for the stock market professional. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why he views some discussions in Germany with skepticism. “What annoys me in Germany is the eternal debate: Politicians have to do more,” he says, referring to the state of digitization in his home country. “The bottom line is that companies have to do it.” And there are enough of smart companies, says Koch. “We are very good niche players.”

“Sometimes I only understand the station”

This is how Germany techt

In “So techt Germany” the ntv moderators Frauke Holzmeier and Andreas Laukat ask founders, investors, politicians and entrepreneurs how things are in Germany as a technology location. You can find all episodes in the n-tv app at Audio Now, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. Also at Amazon Music and Google Podcast you will find it.

But it also works well on a large scale. One example is the success of Deutsche Telekom in the USA: With its subsidiary T-Mobile US, it provided the country well with 5G and also showed the “Americans how to appear in stores and how great design looks. I can’t do it myself complain, “reports Koch. In Germany, he has significantly more problems with the Internet while on the go.

Meanwhile, the internet, or much more digitalization, are also turning the financial market upside down. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are just a phenomenon. “Then you do meetings and all of a sudden you talk about decentralized finance and I sit inside the meetings with the CEOs and only understand the train station,” says Koch. In the new episode of “So techt Germany”, he explains why he is still on fire and why he believes that it will be a long time before the economy has recovered from the Corona crisis.
