STOCK MARKET: The CAC 40 expected to drop slightly, with reduced volumes


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones) – The Paris stock market is expected to open slightly lower on Friday, after three sessions of the rise, as many investors have already taken the Christmas holiday off.

At 8:05 am, the CAC 40 index futures contract was down 16 points, or 0.2%, according to data from broker IG.

Volumes are expected to be low as many stock markets, including Wall Street, are closed on Friday. The Paris Bourse will close at 2:05 p.m. No economic indicator is due to be published in France on Friday.

On the business side, EssilorLuxottica and GrandVision announced Thursday evening the sale of nearly 180 stores to comply with commitments made to the European Commission to complete their merger. The two groups have entered into an agreement with Optic Retail International Group, an entity of MPG Austria, providing for the disposal of 142 EyeWish stores in the Netherlands and 35 GrandOptical stores in Belgium.

Biotech company Valneva said Thursday it is in advanced talks with Scotland’s economic development agency Scottish Enterprise over granting a grant to continue work on its Livingston plant. Valneva had suspended plans to expand its Scottish site following the cancellation in September by the British government of a supply agreement for the Covid-19 vaccine developed by the group.

Icade said Thursday that its subsidiary Icade Santé had acquired a portfolio of four private hospitals in Portugal for an amount of 213 million euros including duties.
