“My thoughts and sympathy are with the affected Carinthian population,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner in a letter to Governor Peter Kaiser. There are currently 157 soldiers from the engineer forces, mainly from Villach, and 20 members of the air force with three transport helicopters on site. “Our primary task is to restore the infrastructure and help the people of Carinthia,” affirmed the minister. “We are ready, in cooperation with the relief workers on site, to maintain this mission for a longer period of time.”
