Strange travel documents – refugees usually have their birthday on January 1st

The number of apprehensions in Burgenland remains high. The Oberwart district is particularly affected, and even more deployments are reported from the Oberpullendorf district. A curious detail: most of the refugees were born on the same day, on January 1st. At least that’s what it says in their ID cards and travel documents.

As reported, dozens of apprehensions were recorded on the national holiday. The border area in the Oberwart district was affected. In the Rechnitz area alone, 35 Somalis were discovered and cared for in half an hour.

A cell phone video of the migrants’ march quickly made the rounds. The posting on the FPÖ General Secretary’s Facebook page received 185,000 views within 30 hours.

Frontier work without a break
More than 600 refugees have entered the country in the past seven days. Most of them were in the Oberpullendorf district. The emergency services do not have a breather. “We have so many apprehensions that we can hardly go about our actual work,” say police officers on site.

The registration of refugees and their transport to initial reception centers in Salzburg takes a lot of time.

Only year of birth important
Whether Syrians, Iraqis or Somalis – if they have ID, certain data are often identical. According to the paper, most refugees have their birthday on January 1st. “In their home countries, only the year of birth is important. The exact date is not known to many. When issuing replacement documents, as in Serbia, the authorities usually enter January 1, ”explains the company.
