Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin: Tetsuya Nomura does not say no to a sequel

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will probably not have lived up to expectations compared to what we would have liked from a spin-off Final Fantasy tackling the genre of Souls/Nioh-like, but that does not mean that he did not have qualities to spare. Positives that could be better developed in a sequel, provided that one can see the light of day, and if there is one that is open to the idea, it is Tetsuya Nomura.

More Chaos or not, it’s up to the public to decide

To celebrate the launch of the game’s third and final DLC, Tetsuya Nomura appeared during a livestream organized by Square Enix, in which he sent a message translated by Noisy Pixel. The producer does not go overboard and appeals to the public, sole master of the fate of the license:

When Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin first came out, there was a lot of criticism, especially online. However, I’m happy to say that everyone watching this livestream is very fond of Jack and Friends. So much so that some would like to see a sequel. And if you want that to happen, it would definitely help to spread the word. If word of mouth about the game spreads, proving that this is a title that really resonated with everyone, there may be hope for us to see each other again. Personally, I would love to work with Kumabe-san from Koei Tecmo again. »

In other words: if sales reach a certain level Square Enix could consider the idea of a sequel, nothing very surprising there. Which is not yet the case, which is why Nomura is now counting on the public to spread the word. It remains to be seen how many people want to hear it.
