Stranger Things: a hidden message in the trailer for season 4

Netflix recently released the first official trailer for the highly anticipated Season 4 of Stranger Things, and some eagle-eyed fans thought they’d deciphered a hidden message.

To locate it, they looked more closely at one image in particular, a cosmic-looking image on which appears a series of mysterious numbers.

This subliminal image is only visible by pausing the video at exactly 1:59. By studying more closely the numbers that appear there, the little curious ones hypothesized that they could correspond to timestamps. So they then went to the designated times in the trailer.

In the scenes in question, located at 1:46, 0:33, 2:30 and 0:52, we can see Mike (Finn Wolfhard) watching Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) being escorted by the authorities, Max (Sadie Sink ) reading a letter at Billy’s grave, newcomer Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) presiding over a game of Dungeons & Dragons and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Mike watching Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) play basketball.

To go further, a Reddit user then had fun superimposing the white holes of the cosmic background with the images and discovered that letters appeared there.

Once the letters of this secret “puzzle” were put together, he was able to read: “I am the master of hell”.

Some speculate that this phrase could refer to the Hellfire Club, which is a new Dungeons & Dragons group that will be introduced during the season. Others think it could allude to the new villain lurking in the Upside Down. Hopefully more clues will be delivered before the arrival of season 4 of Stranger Things, the first episodes of which will be released on Netflix on May 27, 2022.
