  • The writers’ strike by the Writers Guild of America paralyzes film, show and series production in the USA.
  • “Stranger Things” is also affected.
  • The final 5th season is shifting backwards and forwards. If the strike lasts longer, we won’t get the new episodes until 2025.

The fifth and final season of “Stranger Things” is a long way off. This is due to the writers’ strike, which is currently putting a large number of show and series productions in the USA on hold. As series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have now announced on Twitter, their Netflix series isn’t safe either.

The writing doesn’t stop once filming begins. While we are excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, this is not possible during this strike. We hope that a fair agreement will be reached soon so that we can all get back to work. Until then – over and out.

The Writers Guild of America strike has far-reaching consequences and is currently affecting many productions. The writers’ union is currently negotiating with representatives of the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers to ensure fair working conditions for writers in America. As long as they don’t agree, the wheels in Hollywood will stand still.

The already delayed filming of the series finale of the science fiction hit “Stranger Things” was supposed to start in a few weeks, but nothing will come of it now. The further production of the series has been postponed indefinitely and the broadcast of the new episodes will be a long time coming.

So far we have assumed that the final season of “Stranger Things” will be released in summer 2024. Depending on how long the writers’ strike will last, the release of season 5 could even be delayed until 2025. During the last strike in 2007, writers had to wait over 100 days before they could resume work.

However, other shows and series are feeling the strike even harder than “Stranger Things.” Late-night shows in particular are currently affected, but other series productions are currently paused or have even been canceled completely due to the strike.

It remains to be seen whether there will be more series like “Stranger Things”. If the strike again drags on for several months, then series like “Yellowjackets” or “Cobra Kai” are not safe either.
