Stranger Things: the creators will adapt one of the most famous manga for Netflix

In full preparation for the final season of “Stranger Things”, the brothers Ross and Matt Duffer are also working on numerous projects, including an adaptation of the manga “Death Note” into a live-action series!

We know it, even if it is not yet official: the fifth and final season of Stranger Things will not really mark the end of the hit series from Netflix. A spin-off is indeed already under study, while the creators of the program Matt and Ross Duffer have already confirmed that no character from Stranger Things would return if the series were to see the light of day, since it would be a question of telling “something else”.

But the final season of Stranger Things and its potential spin-off are not the only projects developed by the Duffer brothers. The duo is indeed participating in the development of a play inspired by Stranger Things mythology, written by Kate Trefry and notably produced by director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliott, The Crown, etc.).

But that’s not all since the Duffers are also developing a serial adaptation of the novel The Talisman, co-written by Peter Straub and Stephen King, for Paramount Television. Admirers of the master of fantasy, the brothers had tried to adapt It into a feature film several years ago, at a time before Stranger Things when their lack of notoriety did not yet allow them to work on big-budget productions.

In addition to another series developed with the creators of Dark Crystal: the time of the resistance which we know nothing about, the Duffers are also working on a project to adapt the cult manga Death Note (available from Kana editions) into a live-action series; remember that a feature film in live action has already seen the light of day on Netflix in 2016, but had not met with the expected success due in particular to its many freedoms with the original work.

Between the extension of the universe of Stranger Things and the exploration of new horizons, the Duffer brothers therefore have no shortage of projects to continue to entertain us over the next few years. Remember also that the fifth – and last – season of Stranger Things should not be broadcast on Netflix before the current of the year 2024.
